In today’s session we looked at doing some yoga, this was to help keep us fit and not injured we did poses such as tree, cobra, warrior, and many lunges and stretches. This was good as it enabled us to loosen up but also get ready for a day of dancing and acting. To improve I could do more yoga.
Theory with Shanaz 18th September
In today’s session we looked at doing more work on our power points about performer as storyteller. This was good as it allowed me to add more slides to my power point and carry out some independent research. To improve I need to ensure that my research is more focused as I was easily distracted.
Musical theatre with Karma 18th September
In today’s session we did more work on polishing Dancin’ fool, this is because it is a piece we are working toward for a public performance, we looked at cleaning up spacing and making it a bit more exciting, we did this by parting to reveal Cameron scatting, this was good as it demonstrated great musicality. To improve I must ensure that my body work is clean.
Body Conditioning with Karma 18th September
This session was all about us stretching out and finding tension in our body and releasing it, this again was to ensure we were ready for the day and all warmed up, we did some push ups, some yoga and a lot of moving. This was good as it is helping to keep us fit and able for the course it is also preventing injury.
Body Conditioning with Karma 19th September
In today’s session we focused on getting focused as we had a visiting theatre company coming in, ‘The Dreadnought Company’ they were doing a workshop with us in the day, we did maniac as I’ve previously talked about in another post from the 17th September. We then did a vocal warm up to get us ready for acting in the workshop, this was good as it was to prevent us damaging our voices or ourselves.
Acting with Shanaz 17th September
In today’s session we looked at the skeletons of a fairy tale, we did this by using our stock characters and the 7 genres of a story work we had the the weeks before. My group was looking at the fairy tale Rapunzel; We looked at the themes of revenge and love, this was good as it allowed us to think of the way the characters in this effect the themes and how they bring them out.
Body conditioning and Dance with Karma 17th September
In today’s session we warmed up our bodies to ensure that we were safe while doing the dance session, we used the maniac warm up which is a sequence that we use to limber up and get our blood pumping, this was good as it helped us get ready for the hard work that would follow. We then spent most of the morning up until 12 working on the Dancin’ fool piece, we looked at finishing the piece and then polishing it to bring up the standard. This was good as it meant we were able to rehearse to embed the dance to the point of muscle memory so that we could work on our characterisation, this was important as this piece is all about telling a story through dance, to improve for next week I need to practice the section that is ‘clap clap heel slap bang clap up’ this is to ensure that I am in time and sharp.

Production Skills with Sally 12th September
In today’s session we look at prop production and in groups were given a prop and had to discuss how we think it was made, we were given a golden egg, the egg it turned out was made of paper mache and spray paint. Once given the correct information we had to write a How-to-guide for our prop, this was good as it showed us how to produce a prop.
