Acting with Shanaz 3rd September:

The focus in today’s session was Lecoqs 7 levels of tension and the 10 levels of status.

After our warm up we began to walk around the space as the number got higher or lower in the Lecoq exercise the tension we had to reflect the number higher number higher tension. I found this enjoyable and informative as it helped me understand ways to shows tension or the lack thereof, like eyes speed and facial expressions. We then did the ten levels of status and in this exercise 10 was above everybody else and 1 was like a peasant. This exercise was good as it allowed us to see how different status levels interacted with each other and it was difficult I thought to distinguish between 4 5 and 6.

I learnt that the slightest adjustments can make a huge difference in how you come across. I will use this in the future and apply it to any characters that I come to play both 7 and 10 levels.

I will set myself the target to improve being able to distinguish between 4 5 and 6

Body conditioning and Dance with Jo 3rd September:

Today as a group we learnt how to warm up at the start of the day, we did this by slowly rolling our spine down to the ground as much as we could and then plie before rolling back up slowly and then repeating. By doing this we opened our joints, this is important for us to do as performers as this is teaching us safe practice to ensure that we do not injure ourselves. I will use this in the future to ensure I am performing safe practice. We then learnt a small phrase of dance that we continued to refine and build upon, we used this to see what stage we were at with our dancing. I found this good as it gave me an idea of what my own skill level was compared to others on the course, this meant I could see how they were doing certain moves and was able to improve some of my own techniques.

I learnt that as well as learning the dances songs etc that you also need to be physically fit I will use to improve as I am starting at the gym and will be getting onto as healthier diet.

I have set myself the target to improve my fitness.
